Tender pulled pork cooked low and slow in a honey garlic BBQ sauce, served on soft mini slider buns. Perfect for parties and easy comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs pork shoulder (1.41.8 kg), well-marbled
  • 1/3 cup honey (113 g)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (240 ml), e.g. Sweet Baby Ray’s
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (30 ml)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (15 ml)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (2 g)
  • 1 tsp salt (5 g)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (1 g)
  • 1216 mini slider buns
  • Optional toppings: coleslaw, pickles, sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder, leaving some for flavor and moisture. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until combined.
  3. Place pork shoulder in the slow cooker, fat side up. Pour the honey garlic BBQ sauce evenly over the pork, coating all sides.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, until pork is fall-apart tender.
  5. Remove pork from slow cooker and shred with two forks, discarding large chunks of fat.
  6. Skim excess fat from sauce in slow cooker. Return shredded pork to slow cooker and stir to coat with sauce. Keep warm on low.
  7. Slice mini slider buns in half and toast lightly if desired.
  8. Assemble sliders by piling pulled pork on bottom buns, adding optional toppings, and topping with bun lids.
  9. Serve warm immediately.

Notes

Do not rush the slow cooking process for best tenderness. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking to maintain heat. For thicker sauce, simmer on high for 15-20 minutes or add cornstarch slurry and cook 10 minutes on high. Toast buns lightly to prevent sogginess. Variations include adding red pepper flakes for spice or using gluten-free buns for dietary needs.
